Wake / Rise (2017)
This long piece strings four songs together, moving from an awakening of sorts in the aftermath of the 2016 US presidential election, through conflict, then to its complicated reconciliation. I tried to work at the edges of the songs, blurring one into the next. The Southeast Minnesota Arts Council supported the piece's creation and premiere performance in Northfield, MN.
