My scholarly work explores the complex relationships between music and media, specifically vinyl and mp3. My dissertation, The Sonic Object, is available on Princeton's DataSpace. It's becoming a book, One More Revolution, published by The Operating System in 2017.

I wrote a bit about Orpheus Unsung, a collaboration between Steven Mackey, Jason Treuting, and Mark DeChiazza, as part of the Baryshnikov Arts Center's "BAC Stories" series.

My notes appear in Albany Records' release of Barbara White's ravishing opera Weakness.

"The Exchange" is a short piece that became the source text for a big composition of the same name, which you can find on the Spoken Word page.

"Petticelle. Or, 'The Threat of Violence'" is a recipe of sorts, working through a process while following the associations where they might lead. It became a musical work as well, which you can find with other Spoken Word pieces.

"Linguine with White Clam Sauce I. Or, 'Manslaughter'" is another recipe, for my grandfather's famous white clam sauce. But it's also about the circumstances of his death and about fathers and sons. You can view the film/sound versions under Spoken Word.

(I sometimes write memoir that verges on poetry, which you can find, buried, on my blog.)
